'May this verdict revive our faith in the justice system,' says the Commission on Human Rights, adding that the government must address 'marks of impunity that continue to prevail.'

"While being a landmark decision, we steadily urge the government to ensure that every case of assault to the rights of Filipinos be met with the full force of the law towards addressing marks of impunity that continue to prevail," CHR spokesperson Jacqueline de Guia said in a statement. The massacre in Maguindanao on November 23, 2009, is considered as the single deadliest attack on media in the world and the worst election-related violence in Philippine history.
