THE EU has been plunged into crisis after the European Parliament voted to call for formal rule-of-law talks over Malta.

In 2017, prominent journalist, Caruana Galizia was killed by a car bomb as she investigated corruption in the Maltese government. Amid the investigation into the death of the journalist, prime minister of the country, Joseph Muscat’s chief of staff Keith Schembri stepped down from office.In light of the controversy in the country, MEPs backed a resolution to start the process of suspending the rights of the state.
