Peter Rex Dansie spoke for almost three hours about breeding goats, family legal stoushes, steamy online chats and his struggle to save his wife during an interview with police, which was tendered during his trial in October.

"I'd have to take her up the stairs in her wheelchair, luckily I was a big guy and I could do this."

He went on to say his mother-in-law cost him"well over $100,000 in all these problems they've caused". He said he was one of the only people who visited Mrs Dansie in her Valley View nursing home, where they would play chess and she would whizz through crossword puzzles.
