trial, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday morning that he hoped he and his Democratic counterpart could still sit down to hash out their differences.“We’ll be here tomorrow," McConnell said. We’ll be voting on the appropriation bills tomorrow, and we’ll have plenty of time to talk.”
In his opening remarks on the Senate floor earlier in the day, McConnell reminded Schumer of what he said were more bipartisan times: the impeachment trial of former President Bill Clinton in 1999. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, center, dismisses the impeachment process against President Donald Trump saying, "I'm not an impartial juror. This is a political process," as he meets with reporters at the Capitol in Washington, Dec. 17, 2019."Back in 1999, all 100 senators agreed on a simple pre-trial resolution that set up a briefing, opening arguments, senators questions, and a vote on a motion to dismiss," McConnell described.
Schumer, however, is not backing down from his pre-trial request of having witnesses appear before the Senate. He called out McConnell for making"incomplete" and"irrelevant" comparisons to Clinton's trial. "There is one fact that is impossible for the Senate to ignore. In the two presidential impeachment trials in the history of this body, the Senate heard from witnesses," Schumer said Wednesday on the floor.
"He said it proudly!" Schumer exclaimed."What kind of example does that set to the country who's looking for fairness and impartiality?"
At this point, there is nothing Moscow Mitch can say that I would ever believe!!
I say we replace him and stop his reign of terror. His time has come.
Oh sure...Not!
Where is Nunes?
I hope there is as there was no proof of any kind to even get to this juncture it was just the fact Hilary lost ?
Lol
Translation: Republicans have to have it all their way.
Rule 1 for meetings like this, go in with an open mind. Both will have a problem with that. Mitch is in a corner with trump, Schumer wants to bring in Mick & Bolton to finish the dots. Gonna be ugly ...
He's losing. If he thought he was winning, he'd never take the boot off the throat.
Please, get real!
