NEW DELHI - India’s Supreme Court turned down a plea on Wednesday to stop the implementation of a new citizenship law based on religion that has set off violent protests in the country, but said it would hold hearings next month on the sweeping measure.
Thousands of people have protested, saying the law is anti-Muslim and the latest in a series of measures by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government to marginalize the community. Modi’s government says the law was intended to address the persecution of minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in the Muslim-majority countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

It is not some neighbor country , it is Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan where state religion is Islam and Christian,Boudhdhhs, Sikkhs, Jain, Parsi and Hindus are allowed .
Wait, the Muslims are mad that people of other religions can claim persecution by muslim majority countries and seek refuge in India but the muslims consider that biased against muslims? Maybe those Muslim countries should stop persecuting other religions.

This false neutrality is a problem. The law offers a path for people with no documents proving that they, their parents and their grandparents were/are Indians IF they're non-Muslims. If they're Muslims with no documentation they get chucked into concen.. detention centers.

Shame on you for wrong reporting. Everyone one have to prove their citizenship. Those who can't have documents become illegal immigrant. But if you are Non-Muslim you will get citizenship through this law. And Muslims will detained in detention camps
