Mavcom is to be merged with the transport ministry’s Civil Aviation Authority.
“The letter was sent earlier this week hoping that a decision to merge or dissolve Mavcom will not be taken to satisfy certain vested interests,” said CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader. It cited a recent study by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Institute of Malaysian and International Studies that found CAAM suffered from problems related to manpower and experienced engineers and pilots.
He said since its inception, Mavcom has been addressing the welfare of airline passengers, adding that the commission was also more effective as it was answerable to the Parliament and not to the minister.
Mavcom must remain an independent body to continue to look after the interest of traveling public. It must not come under the purview of Captain anthonyloke who has miserably failed to look after public interest chedetofficial theedgemalaysia staronline MOTMalaysia
