A Phnom Penh Court set January 15 as the trial date for the former president of the dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party .
The Appeal Court on Monday held a two hour closed door hearing to decide whether to put Sokha on trial.The Appeal Court also rejected an appeal filed by Sokha’s defence lawyers against the court’s decision that he be sent to trial. Phen Heng, one of Sokha’s four defence lawyers, told The Post that his team had no choice but to follow court procedures.
Sokha was arrested in September 2017 and charged with treason for allegedly colluding with the US to overthrow the government.
