The highly anticipated hearing for Julian Assange has begun in the US District Court on the island of Saipan.
Mr Assange is sitting in the courtroom wearing a black suit. Behind him is Australia's ambassador to the United States, Kevin Rudd, Australia's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Stephen Smith, and human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson.Assange is expected to plead guilty to one criminal charge but be sentenced to time already served, given the five years he spent in a British prison.
